I. God’s Final Charge to Israel!

In chapter 7 God told Israel through Amos that they were not being measured by man’s standard but by God’s standard. (The Plumbline) God always warns before He wounds. “Prepare to meet thy God, Oh Israel” Amos 4:12

A. Israel is Ripe for Judgment! 1-3

Because you are:

1. Ripe with Sin! (Basket of Summer Fruit) 1-2

a. “I Will not pass by them(Israel) any more” (8x’s)

b. Singing will be replaced with Sorrow 3

2. Ripe with Selfishness! 4-7

a. When will worship be over? 4-5 (Clock-Eyed?)

aa. “What, could you not watch with me one hour?” Mt. 26:40 (Jesus)

b. When can we rob the helpless again? 6

c. “I Will never forget any of their Works” 7

aa. “For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.” Hebrews 8:12

3. Ripe for Signs to be Shown! 8-13

“And it shall come to pass in that day”

God is our refuge and strength,

A very present help in trouble.

aa. “as the mourning of an only son” (Abraham, God Knew He would get His Son back!)

d. Ears that will not(or can not) Hear 11-12 (Famine?)

aa. John 8:43 “Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word.” (because you are of your father the devil) bb. James 1:22 “ But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.”

Baby Christians= drinking the Milk of the Word(the Death,Burial and Resurrection of Jesus Christ)

Mature Christians= eating the meat of the Word(of what Jesus Christ is doing for us in heaven and inside of us now!

Did Israel turn away from hearing God’s Word for so long, that God Took the Word Away?

aa. “But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.” John 4:14

What signs has God been giving us that are warning us about His judgment that is coming?
